Living on a tropical island comes with its perks. Besides the Caribbean Ocean, the fresh fruit, the palm trees, the laid back attitudes, the manageable lifestyle with nannies and maids – weekend trips are high on the list of perks.
In truth, Husband and I haven’t taken many weekend trips with the constant pregnancy and newborn phases in constant rotation since we arrived to DR but this weekend that changes.
The great Shayna friend organized a Girls’ Yoga Weekend Retreat. She did all of the legwork: the searching, the calculations, the booking, the details, the instructors, and so forth. And now, finally, we leave tomorrow – 17 girls – for a long weekend of yoga, meditation, and coffee talks.
There are no kids or families going. Our only homework is to be good to ourselves, our bodies, and our minds.
I don’t know how much I will be able to downward dog and triangle pose at 7 months pregnant but what I’m searching for the most is quiet. A time and place to clear my head and relax before our newest addition fills our life with another set of pitter-pattering feet. A time to read, a time to think and be, a time for a hot cup of uninterrupted coffee with good friends and amazing, inspiring women.
We are staying at Villa Serena located in Las Galeras, a location that National Geographic has voted one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
