MicroAdventure: Exploring Juan Dolio

February 19, 2016

For as long as I’ve been abroad, I’ve counted down the days until my parents were both retired from work and responsibilities so they could join us in the Dominican Republic for a few months. This was the year. On January 17th, 3 days before my birthday, my parents’ plane touched down in Santo Domingo. They stayed with us for 3 weeks before moving into their digs at the beach in Juan Dolio for the next month. It was the perfect choice for us since JD is only a 45 minute drive from Santo Domingo so we could come and go quite often – though I foresee much more coming than going.

Since this past weekend was the first weekend my parents were in their rented apartment at the beach, we spent a lot of time exploring Juan Dolio: walking the dogs around our accommodations, strolling to nearby restaurants, and biking around town for sips of rum drinks and cold beers. The only part I missed getting on video was the flamingo drink floatie. Oh well, there’s always next weekend.

HAPPY WEEKEND!
